New NICE national guidance on improving infants’ social and emotional well-being has drawn on research by the Social Research Unit at Dartington.
Published by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), it shows how the social and emotional well-being of vulnerable children aged under 5 can be supported through home visiting, childcare and early education.
The Unit wrote one of three expert reports that inform the guidance, focusing on suitable evidence-based programmes in this field.
The guidance is for all those responsible for planning and commissioning children’s services in local authorities, the NHS and the community, voluntary and private sectors, as well as GPs, health visitors, midwives, psychologists, social workers, teachers and those working in all early years settings
