Ben is passionate about the importance of making evidence accessible to policy makers so that it can be used to inform their decisions. The Lab’s position between academic research and frontline practice is providing plenty of opportunity to explore this.

Since joining the Lab, Ben has contributed primarily to service design and innovation work, including rapid reviews of the best available evidence. This includes work with The Children’s Society and Nottingham City Council to develop the next generation of support for young people facing multiple disadvantage, as well as work with the homelessness charity Crisis and the Hothouses for Innovation initiative.

Ben joined the Lab in July 2017 after graduating from the University of Oxford, where he studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics. During his degree, he specialised in the economics of labour markets with a particular focus on the impact of policies that effect the lower end of the income distribution including minimum wages, unemployment benefits and employment interventions. He also took a particular interest in logic and the philosophy of language.

When it’s raining Ben likes to play badminton, if it’s sunny he goes cycling.
